Are You Collecting Emails From Your Website Visitors?

Share to

One of the biggest mistakes many entrepreneurs make is not collecting emails from their website visitors.

Whether you are a beginner or a professional, the email address collection popup is very important for the development of your customer base.

Why collect emails on your website?

Collecting emails on your website through a popup or a registration form may seem annoying for the user, but the benefit you will get from it as an entrepreneur is huge.

As visitors arrive on your website, your email list will naturally grow if the “offer” against the email address is interesting

You can then register this list in a mail sequence thanks to an autoresponder like Getresponse or send them newsletters very easily.

When to collect emails on your website?

From the beginning, don’t say to yourself: for the moment I don’t have any traffic, it can wait. This is one of the first things to set up on an online site.

How to collect email addresses?

On many CMS like WordPress, you can easily, with the help of a plugin, set up a popup that will be displayed after x seconds, or when your visitor leaves or when he does a certain action.

Some more advanced plugins allow you to choose where your popup will appear, propose different popups on each page, and propose interactions, and not only a dialog box.

How to make a visitor leave you his email address?

Offer him something interesting and irresistible so that he gives you his email address in exchange.

You can offer him an ebook describing your activity/specialty: if you are in Yoga, you can offer him an eBook that describes the benefits of Yoga on the human body.

You can also make a video, still in the same principle, in order to give something against the email address.

What to do with an email list?

To make good use of your email list, I recommend that you connect your popup to an autoresponder. You can then easily send newsletters announcing a new blog post or particular information about your company.

You can also program an autoresponder connected to your list, which sends emails automatically and spaced in time.

This allows you to make your company known without spamming the person.

Which autoresponder to choose?

Having used Mailchimp, and GetResponse, my favorite is GetResponse and I will explain why.
